Tai Ji Qi Gong
Tai Ji Qi Gong is an exercise form built on two great Chinese systems of moving meditation, Tai Ji and Qi Gong.
TaiJiQiGong as taught at Maui Chinese is a system of 18 movements designed to harmonize the flow of energy, Qi, within the body. The physical movements set to breathing and mental attitude, when done properly, balance yin and yang energies and influences, resulting in increased energy, concentration, and general physical and mental health. This system of 18 movements was developed in 1981 by Dr Lin Hou Sheng, a physician of Shanghai, China.
These 18 movements are learned over a period of 6 hour lessons, once a week. Once general mastery of the movements is achieved, periodical checking and reinforcement is suggested. When proficiency in these movements is attained, the whole routine can be completed in 15 to 20 minutes, a small price in time to pay for the immense benefits obtained. For greatest benefit, a daily routine of practice is advised. It grows on you.
For those who might think of TaiJi or QiGong as a martial art like judo or karate, please be advised that the TaiJiQiGong taught here is not a martial art. Rather, it aims at physical and mental well-being and health, inner calmness and strength, and happiness.
